Croatian Mini-Break

One of the great things about living in Belgrade is how close we are to other countries, either via car or short flights. We were talking on Thursday and realized we had no weekend plans, so we got in the car Friday after work and with only 1 tiny snafu at the border (there may have been a little foot chase by border control after we got a wee bit confused... thank goodness people like to laugh at the silly Americans), we found our way to Opatija, Croatia, a great little town on the Adriatic Sea, about 5.5 hours from Belgrade. We were really lucky to grab a room at the Hotel Galeb, across the street from the sea and walking distance to lots of shops and restaurants. It was a perfect weekend!

We arrived close to midnight and so we were pleasantly surprised by our view when we woke up!

Lots of beautiful buildings overlooking the sea.

We were so excited that this was across the street from our hotel! I think Don and I had more fun than the kids :)

Ready to go!
